Elizabeth DiLoreto

Director of Public Affairs and Communications

By day, Elizabeth explores the complexities of the brain as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the College of the Holy Cross, where she teaches neuroscience. Her own academic roots run deep, having earned a Ph.D. in Biology and Biotechnology with a focus on neurobiology and neuropeptide signaling. However, driven by a desire to connect lab-bench science to societal impact, she made her first pivot into policy with the Genetics Society of America’s Early Career Leadership Program’s Science Policy and Advocacy Subcommittee. This spark led her to explore early-career roles across various agencies, ultimately bringing her to the Journal of Science Policy & Governance. She first got involved with the Journal’s ambassador program before stepping into the Director role, where she now supports the work of other early career science policy advocates and analysts. When she isn't fostering the next generation of science policy advocates or teaching, Elizabeth brings her love for biology into the kitchen, exploring the microbial world through the art of baking sourdough bread.

Julia Comino

Brand Manager

Julia Comino is the Branding Manager for the Journal on the Communications Team. Julia grew up in Mississippi, and currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated from American University in Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and plans to attend law school in Fall 2027. Julia currently works as a Civic Science intern at Research!America helping to run the early-career funding and mentorship programs and as the Digital Director for DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta. Her passion for public health and social policy have seen her work in on the Hill, at non-profits, and research institutions. Julia is passionate about reproductive and sexual justice, and for the past five years, she has worked with students, universities, and nonprofits to provide Title IX advising, develop policy change, and support legislative efforts to increase protections and resources for students. In her free time, Julia is a novice bartender, avid reader, and a dedicated farmers market peruser.
