Brean Prefontaine
Director of Evaluation and Analytics
Brean wears many hats, but most often you will find her working on K-12 quantum education as a postdoctoral researcher at the Duke Quantum Center. She focuses on exploring ways that quantum information science can be brought into K-12 classrooms through fun, hands-on activities. Outside of this role, she is also very passionate about evaluation and helping public engagement practitioners better understand the impact of their programs. She is working to create resources that demystify the evaluation process and work alongside researchers and practitioners as an external evaluator. She has worked with a variety of project teams, both within academia and the non-profit space, funded by various government agencies (i.e., NSF, NASA, Department of Education). Outside of work, she is a competitive figure skater, coach, and judge. When she is not in an ice rink, she enjoys spending time with her dog, hiking, traveling, and reading.
