Over the past several months, the Journal of Science Policy & Governance (JSPG) has undergone a number of staff changes.
Krystal Vasquez joined JSPG as the Communications Manager in March 2021. She has contributed to the journal’s communication efforts through social media, graphic design and press releases. Krystal is an atmospheric chemistry PhD candidate at the California Institute of Technology. Krystal is also a freelance science writer who has appeared in Scientific American, JSTOR Daily, Nature Chemistry and more.
Nicole Parker joined JSPG as the Director of U.S. Outreach in April 2021. In this capacity, Nicole works to advance JSPG’s visibility, reach and impact of published work in the United States through virtual events, email outreach, presentations and professional development opportunities. Nicole is a Senior Associate at Lewis-Burke Associates LLC, where she leads advocacy efforts for the firm's biomedical research portfolio.
Joanne Ly resigned from the JSPG Podcast and Digital Outreach Manager role in April 2021. While in this position, Joanne helped produce and promote the second and third seasons of the SciPol SoundBites podcast, which enables published work to reach extended audiences around the world. Joanne is currently a doctoral student at UC Irvine.
Maria Qadri became JSPG’s Director of Operations in May 2021. Maria is focused on developing, maintaining and improving the strategy, infrastructure and evaluation process for JSPG’s operations. She is a Scientific Communications Postdoctoral Fellow for the Knowledge Transfer and Outreach arm of the NSF-funded Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership (CASL) based at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) in Washington, DC.
Saheel Mehta, former Director of Communications & Outreach, has been promoted to Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Media Affairs in June 2021. Saheel will develop, maintain and improve the strategy, evaluation and operations processes for optimal JSPG communications and media engagement. Saheel is a freelance science writer and editor.
Alessandro Allegra joined JSPG as an Advisor for International Outreach in July 2021. In this role, he will seek out opportunities to expand outreach and promote JSPG among international science, technology and innovation policy audiences. Alessandro currently works as a Policy Officer at the European Commission Science Advice Mechanism.
