Gwendolyn Bogard​

Gwendolyn Bogard is a Senior Government Relations Officer at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She has experience working in the nonprofit sector at advocacy organizations and professional scientific societies, as well as on Capitol Hill. Gwendolyn knew early on that she loved learning and talking about science more than she liked doing actual research, so she began looking for public engagement opportunities while pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemistry. Gwendolyn’s interest in science policy was first sparked by internship at Research!America, a nonprofit that advocates for health research. There, she realized she could apply her science communication skills to advocate for the scientific community and evidence-informed policy. Gwendolyn is excited to work with the Journal to elevate early-career researchers’ voices in science policy — she believes that forums for sharing new perspectives are essential to the science policy ecosystem. In her free time, Gwendolyn teaches improv and performs with The Hypothesis, Washington Improv Theater's science-themed house ensemble.
