The Journal of Science Policy & Governance (JSPG), a 501-c3 non-profit organization and international, open-access peer-reviewed publication, seeks Science Policy Interns to join the Staff. JSPG is an entirely volunteer-run organization.
In this role, Science Policy Interns will provide support for promoting calls for submissions, published work and events, and help further the mission of JSPG. This position provides professional development opportunities for students interested in science policy.
For this global pilot internship program, applications will be open from April 11, 2022 - May 1, 2022. Please read the duties, requirements, and application information below.
Duties:
- Assist JSPG leadership in outreach efforts, event organizing, podcast planning and distribution, communications and social media engagement, as well as data collection and impact evaluation around published work.
- The position will be tailored to individual interests of the interns, but opportunities will be provided for engaging in multiple projects.
- These include but are not limited to: promoting calls for submissions and issue launches, expanding the reach of publications, and helping further the mission of JSPG to elevate early career voices in science policy debate and discourse.
- As JSPG is an entirely volunteer-run organization, we are not able to offer compensation.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- Eligibility is limited to current undergraduate and graduate students.
- To be eligible, applicants must remain in their current positions or another similarly eligible position for the next six months.
- Ideal candidates will have interest in science policy and publishing; prior science policy experience is not required.
- Applications from candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged, including but not limited to the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities with a concentration in science and technology.
- Must be willing to commit to a six (6) months term (beginning June 27), dedicating 1-3 hours to JSPG duties per week, workload varies throughout the academic year.

- Applications: The application cycle for this pilot program will be open from April 11, 2022-May 1, 2022 (start date June 2022).
- Restrictions: JSPG policy prohibits interns from submitting to the journal while in this role. By applying to this role, you agree to abide by these guidelines as stated in the application should you be accepted to the role.
- Note: This position is distinct from the editorial board, and is meant to expand opportunities for trainees around published issues. Editorial board applications will be separate from internship roles.
