Washington, DC – The Journal of Science Policy and Governance (JSPG) today announced its 2019-2020 Board of Directors. The governing board is comprised of established leaders and scholars in science policy who provide oversight and strategic guidance for JSPG’s work, particularly for outreach, engagement, and strengthening partnerships. Board members work to help editors and staff promote the journal as a professional development resource for students, policy fellows, and young researchers who wish to bolster their research and writing credentials on topics at the intersection of science, technology, and public policy.

“For years, JSPG has served as an important professional development platform for students and young scholars of all academic backgrounds to publish well-thought-out solutions to pressing science policy challenges. JSPG’s new governing board is well equipped to help the journal advance its mission across the United States and beyond,” said JSPG Advisory Board member Dr. Neal Lane who previously served as Director of the National Science Foundation and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

“JSPG’s governing board is comprised of some of the profession’s foremost thinkers and doers in science policy. We’re honored to have the support of these leaders who share our mission of catalyzing the substantive engagement of students, young professionals, and early career researchers in science and technology policy,” said Shalin Jyotishi, JSPG CEO. “The governing board will encourage more early career researchers to think critically about science and technology policy issues and make their voices heard on these issues.”

“My experience with JSPG has helped me grow as a writer and editor, while also deepening my understanding of the range of important issues at the intersection of science and society,” said Tess Doezema, current JSPG Editor-in-Chief of and doctoral candidate at Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society. “It’s inspiring to see such a distinguished set of leaders endorsing the value of contributions from early career researchers to science policy debates.”
