Event Summary:
In recognition of the 75-year anniversary of Vannevar Bush’s Endless Frontier framework for U.S. science policy, the Journal of Science Policy and Governance (JSPG) has partnered with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) with support from the Kavli Foundation to launch a call for policy position papers from the next generation of science policy leaders that focus on building on and from Vannevar Bush’s Science: The Endless Frontier. This writing workshop will equip students, policy fellows, and early career researchers with the skills needed to write effective, innovative and actionable policy position papers.
Dates (two-day workshop):
January 9, 2021 - 2:00-4:30 pm EST January 10, 2021 - 12:00-1:30 pm EST Layout: Day 1 (January 9, 2021): - Introductory presentation on Endless Frontier background and major issues raised (Tobin Smith, Vice President for Policy, Association of American Universities & JSPG Governing Board member) - Presentation on the elements of writing policy position papers (Deborah Stine, President of Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Analysis & Education & JSPG Governing Board member) - Breakout rooms to work on outline for policy position papers Prior to day 2, reviewers will provide feedback in google docs.
